Who are we?
A band of Singaporeans looking to spread some of that Singapore love in Manchester.

Singaporeans - Inhabitants of Singapore and fluent speakers of Singlish

We hope to be that "home away from home" for Singaporean students in Manchester and the go-to society for those interested in learning more about our culture.

"Okay, that's nice and all but what exactly do you do?", we hear you ask.

That's simple! We run events and socials to make the Manchester experience an enjoyable and memorable one.

Want to eat good food? We got you covered! if there's one thing Singaporeans take pride in, it's finding great and affordable eats. Alternatively, join us for Asian food fairs held throughout the year!

Want to make friends? We already are! Come along for our monthly events and keep an eye out for our joint events with other Asian societies: Yay! More friends!

There's plenty of things to do with the Singaporean Society! Did we mention food?

A word from our President
Hi there!

​Firstly, thank you for visiting our website!
The Singapore Students' Society of Manchester, United Kingdom (or SSSMUK for short - I know it’s quite a mouthful) has been around in Manchester for a very long time. Through these years, though our aim may vary slightly from time to time, we will always have one constant: To provide all Singaporeans coming over to study the most memorable time of their lives in Manchester!

As a freshman, you may have mixed feelings about coming abroad to study. While it might be the first time you are living independently away from your family, (yay freedom!), not knowing what to expect when you are here can be overwhelming too. Being in a completely new environment, you’re not quite sure how to get around, find good place to eat (pretty sure we all Singaporeans are big foodies always on the hunt for them), or even find the best deal for all the things you need to settle in. But fret not! This is what SSSMUK is here for. Other than planning events and socials to make Manchester your “home away from home”, we always strive to help so that you’ll be able to transit into your new life here smoothly and comfortably.

As a senior, though you have been in Manchester for a while now, there must have been times when you miss being back in Singapore. (don’t we all miss our family and hawker centres) And that is the gap where SSSMUK hopes to fill in with the events we plan for you! I hope that the friendships and experiences you make here will be lasting ones that you keep with you, even after graduating and ones you will remember your university life by.

On that note, regardless of which year you’re in, I hope that you’ll be able to mark this phase of your life down as one of the best times of your life! If you have any questions at all about Manchester, don’t hesitate to ask!
