My name is Lydia Quah, and I take great interest in running for the position of General Secretary this AY 17/18. Currently, I am a first year student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Management at The University of Manchester.

 

After staying in Manchester for close to a year, this city has become my second home. Through participating in the Orientation Camp and the events organised by the current Singsoc Committee, I managed to experience the warmth of a community far from home. The experiences I’ve shared with the friends made within this community has been a blessing to me, and I would like to further grow this society with the upcoming committee through the abovementioned position.

 

The role of the General Secretary requires one to be outgoing, organised and passionate with regards to the administrative aspects of Singsoc. Through my studies at Singapore Polytechnic, I have actively participated in the Business Ambassadors and Business Administration Club and was tasked with organising events and maintaining the welfare benefits of members. These tasks have taught me the value of being organised, while providing me with experience in logistics planning. Through this experience, and my dedication towards learning from others, I believe I will be capable of handling the logistical aspects of the society. 

 

It will be an absolute honour to contribute to the society and be a part of the committee to unify the present and future community.
